Dr Justine O’Brien

Biologist

Dr Justine O’Brien  is a wildlife reproductive biologist and the Conservation Science Manager at Taronga, with more than 20 years’ experience applying reproductive research to threatened species management. She has worked internationally to establish and support conservation biorepositories for wildlife. Dr O’Brien has driven biobanking programs from research and development to conservation application phases, improving the efficacy of numerous threatened species recovery programs. She has worked on coral biobanking as part of Taronga’s Reef Recovery Program since 2018. Dr O’Brien serves as Reproduction Advisor for multiple zoo-based taxa managed under the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of New South Wales.
