Andrea Severati is based at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) in Townsville, where he designs experimental systems in the Australian National Sea Simulator. Andrea moved from his original background in marine and developmental biology to the aquaculture and aquarium industry, where, for about 20 years, he worked interfacing the biology of aquatic organisms with system engineering through the development of bespoke technology. Over the past 10 years at AIMS he explored at depth fine manipulative processes of environmental parameters for experimental purposes, and designed engineering solutions for coral husbandry and propagation.
