Dr Juan Ortiz is a Research Scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. His area of interest is ecosystem functioning under cumulative impacts. During his career he has combined physiological micro and macro ecological information to explore the impact of climate change and other disturbances on reef systems around the world. Juan’s recent focus is the functional role of different organisms in reef recovery. His work combines statistical and mechanistic modelling approaches to understand historical and future patterns of ecosystem dynamics.
