Christina is a Project Officer for the Pilot Deployments Program (PDP) of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP), based at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) in Townsville. In this capacity, Christina supports the advancement of reef restoration interventions by coordinating large-scale field trials and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the effective application of innovative reef management strategies.
Christina’s PhD research, conducted as part of the Moving Corals program within RRAP at Southern Cross University (SCU) under the supervision of Distinguished Professor Peter Harrison, Dr. Christopher Doropoulos, and Dr. Dexter dela Cruz (2021–2025), focused on optimizing methods for collecting and rearing coral larvae in situ from wild spawn slicks. Her work aimed to enhance larval survival and settlement success, providing valuable insights for large-scale coral restoration efforts.
Relocating to Australia in 2016, Christina pursued studies on coral ecosystems in the Great Barrier Reef, earning a Master of Science in Marine Biology and Ecology from James Cook University in 2019. Her professional experience includes roles at SCU, AIMS, and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, where she gained expertise in coral reef ecology, coral biology, ecotoxicology, water quality management, aquaculture, and coral spawning. Christina has conducted extensive fieldwork across various regions of the Great Barrier Reef and the Philippines, enriching her practical understanding of coral ecosystems.
